Tecmo Super Bowl is the greatest sports video game of all time. Now, 23 years after TSB made 8-Bit legends of Bo Jackson and Lawrence Taylor, TecmoBowl.org proudly announces the release of Tecmo Super Bowl 2015. This site's 8th yearly iteration updates Tecmo's NES classic with up-to-date rosters, graphics, schedules and play books for all 32 NFL squads. Additionally, the 4-3 defense has been added for teams who run this base defense.

Playable on multiple platforms and operating systems via NES emulation software, Tecmo Super Bowl 2015 brings Nintendo's bone-crunching classic to today's computers and handheld devices.

Will offenses fear Patrick Peterson like they feared Rod Woodson? Who is the more deadly play-caller: Peyton Manning or Joe Montana? Will Matt Schaub have a Grogan-esque ending to his career? Loaded into an NES Emulator, Tecmo Super Bowl 2015 will make legends for the next 23 years.

A. How This Works
If you're new to emulation:
ROM = Game or Cartridge (.nes file)
Emulator = NES System

B. How To Play - PC/Mac

  • Download Nestopia for your platform and also the .nes ROM.
  • Open Nestopia.
  • From Nestopia, File > Open and find your .nes ROM.

C. How to Play Online - Windows
Setup for online play using our guide - http://tecmobowl.org/topic/53066-guide-get-started-playing-tsb-online-for-dummies/. We then recommend starting out at the TPC - http://www.tecmoplayers.com.

Most TPC players use the original Tecmo Super Bowl ROM, but you might be able to find some people playing TSB 2015. Remember that the versions of the game must be exactly the same or you will not be able to connect.

If you’re looking for an online league, we recommend TecmoBowl.org's Online Tecmo Leagues.

D. Tecmo Super Bowl 2015 notes

  • 4-3 Defenses - Several teams employ 4-3 defenses. The "RT" (Right Tackle) will show up as the LILB on the rosters.
  • 32-Team ROM
  • Rosters current as of 9/2/14
  • Adjustable quarter length
  • Playbook editing in-game
  • Player 2 attributes now display correctly
  • Halftime stats
  • Passing Accuracy hack is different from last year. Pass Control determines if a pass will be completed. Passing Accuracy determines if the ball will be on target.
  • Quickness now works. This will be the maximum speed of a defender if they pick up a fumble or make an interception
  • In order to get the proper Pro Bowl players, you may need to reset the season from the Schedule menu
  • ProBowl rosters are based on the new fantasy "Rice vs Deion" format. At this time you are not able to replace players from either conference.

F. Other 2014-15 versions available

The TecmoBowl.org release is purposely similar to the original in terms of player ratings and limit of hacks included. There are some other great yearly releases that implement many of the hacks and different styles that have evolved over the years. We suggest you try them out.

Thanks to:

  • Jstout, Bruddog, Cxrom, Bad-Al & Buck for the hacking knowledge and tools.
  • Members of TecmoBowl.org for helping to beta test and for making this all worthwhile.

I'm a lurker around here and I appreciate all the hard work you guys put into these roms, but why in the world do the Colts wear white jerseys every game and all of their black players look like smurfs? It makes it unplayable for me being a Colts fan.

yes they wear them quite frequently.

It looks like they only use the blue jerseys against:

MIA

NE

TEN

SD

WAS

GB

TB

sorry!

I agree that it's probably too much.  I bet that that jersey combo was supposed to be programmed the opposite, so that they would wear white/smurf vs the above teams.

I could easily update the game for you to make them use the blue jerseys more frequently.

It's definitely not unplayable, just one of the small things that annoyed me in last years rom. Everything else about it is great so I don't want to sound ungrateful or deter anyone from downloading it. You should change their unis and leave TRich blue lol.

awesome work. I love it.. but where is WR #81 Jordan Matthews ® on the Eagles?

He is in Tecmo outer space, for now.  It's tough to make calls about rookies and rosters sometimes, especially if one is not an expert or avid follower of a certain NFL team.  But at some point, we gotta trust the depth charts that are available to us, due to time constraints.  In fact, a couple of sources I've looked at this morning still have him behind Brad Smith.

But if your point is that you know the team pretty well and anticipate him making more of an impact than other receivers, then you may be right and we just made a bad call based the info we had at the time.

This particular rom is difficult to update.

If people want to flip up player replacements I'll make an effort to put out a mid-season update this year.

Awesome job. Really digging the 4-3.

Just nitpicking, but Tommy Kelly should be on the Cardinals, not the Patriots. Add Dominique Easley as the other defensive tackle.

I got and love the new TSB 2015.  I don't get the clock management from the puter though.  For an example...There's 3 plus minutes left in a game and the puter is down by 10...He uses all of his timeouts before the end of the game.  I understand the clock always goes unless you run out of bounds...But the puter is really bad at clock management.  Not to mention is there another version coming out that has the defense turned up a notch?  It's still kind of easy to beat the puter in Season mode,

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up on that. Keep them coming if you see anything else.

Love what you guys do. Thank you for all your hard work. I look forward to it every year.

Is there any chance you would release a mid-season update after we see how well\poorly players perform?

I wish there was a hack that automatically adjusted player traits for you as the season went on according to stats accumulated on ESPN, SI or NFL .com.

Also, any chance for a random season opponent generator? It'd add even MORE replayablilty to what's already there.

Really considering this but it will depend on how busy things are in 8 weeks.

View File This is my most ambitious edit project to date.  To give an idea of the original ROM based on a Japanese professional football league (J.League Winning Goal), check out the images below:

One of the first things I did was to translate the ROM to English.  On ROMHacking.net, there was a patch provided that reduced my workload by about 50%.

Next, I replaced all of the team flags with each country's national flags.  The countries in the game are:  United States, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Colombia, Belgium, France, England, Mexico, Germany, Italy, and Portugal.  After replacing the flags, I replaced the original team logos with the logo or crest for each country's football association.

After changing the logos, I modified the rosters and ratings for each player to accurately reflect the 2014 World Cup.

The kit colors came next.  I had to go with a team's 2nd or 3rd colors in order to make it as accurate as possible.

Finally, to pander the the Tecmo crowd, I updated the appearance to have more of a Tecmo-feel to it.  The fonts were replaced with those from Tecmo Super Bowl, along with a few color schemes (white on black, white on blue).

In regards to the game, there are two modes:  Exhibition (1 or 2 players) and League.  League emulates a larger-scale pool play in the sense that every team will play every other team once before a Champion is crowned.

Here is an update of the NES classic "Nintendo World Cup." It has updated rosters (to reflect the 2014 World Cup). I also changed the uniforms to closely represent their real-life counterparts. Also, I tweaked the gameplay mechanics a little so that the players on the field run a little faster.

A little disclaimer, this ROM was my guinea pig as I figured out how to make ROM modifications and color changes using a hex editor.

      Enjoy!
